This is all about a Day in the Life of Daisy. Daisy is our puppy and we love her oodles. We are the Melvin family and here you will find little bits and pieces of our lives - plus hundreds of Daisy photos, of course!

What a day I had! It started out great, I slept in and had plenty of extra time to get ready for work. I showered early and actually did my hair instead of just pulling it back like I usually do. I had some extra time after I dropped Paul off for work before I had to go to work so I went back to the house. I noticed that the wind had thrown the garbage cans around the yard so I went and picked them up while I had Daisy on the leash with me. I then noticed that Paul had put a bag of cans and bottles for recycling on the deck and the cats or racoons must have dug it open because there were bottles all over the yard, and the neighbors yard, etc.
So, I was pulling Daisy along on her leash as I picked up all the cans and bottles (her leash is one of those pull-out kind that goes about 30 feet) when she decided to roll around in some animal poop! She was covered in really stinky do-do! I yelled at her and she shrugged out of her leash and took off down the yard. I had to chase her around until I got ahold of her and put her up on the deck so I could go inside and get a garbage bag to wrap around her. I planned to steer her into the tub to give her a bath. We don't have a door on the deck so we prop up a baby gate instead but the wind blew it over. Never, ever before has she jumped over the gate when it had blown over. Last time that happened we were inside and she was on the deck alone and when we came out she was napping on the lawn furniture. She is usually so good, but not today!
Then she bolts so I run up onto the deck to get the leash and turn around.....gone. Just like that. Here I was running up and down the yard hollering Daisy, Daisy come! like a retard. I finally saw her two yards over in someone's fenced in back yard. I had to make my way through the branches of all these shrubs behind someone's garage to get to the fence but I couldn't figure out how to get over the fence without pulling the old thing over. So I am standing on the other side yelling over and over, Daisy come! I am sure the neighbors love me now. Eventually she crawled back under the fence and came to me covered in do-do and black with mud. I literally pulled her back to house and straight upstairs to the tub. I just pointed to the tub and said "IN" and she hopped right in. That is a first. I guess she knew I meant business.
I used half a bottle of dog shampoo on her when I was done and then I had to scrub the tub and the floors. Of course, I had to take another shower myself. So much for doing my hair and having lots of time before work. By then I had to rush around to get ready for work so I wouldn't be late. What a miserable day! She knew she was in trouble though. When I left she was hiding under the dining room table.

One more day until our 16th anniversary of being together. When you get married after 12 years together, the anniversary of getting together can mean more than the wedding anniversary. But the wedding day is special in it's own way, since ...well....it's the day we got married. Does that make any sense or am I just rambling?
We are not doing much of anything special I assume this year, since we are broke and all. But maybe on pay day (Friday) we will go out to dinner or something. Then again, it will be Friday the 13th, maybe it would be safer if I stayed home for the entire day. I don't need any more bad luck then I already have!

We've been talking about favorite recipes a lot lately so here are some of my favorite drinks (these are all blender drinks):
Pineapple Passion
1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple
9 oz any tropical fruit juice
9 oz ice (about 1 cup)
8 oz vanilla yogurt
1 very ripe banana
2 tsp ginger (optional)
Banana Daiquiri
1/2 cup lime juice
1/2 cup white rum (but flavored rum like coconut is good to)
2 large ripe bananas
2 tbs sugar
2 cups ice cubes
*You can use a slice of banana on the side of the glass to garnish.*
Hot Lava (my all time favorite)
1 oz light rum
1 oz coconut rum
3 strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1 ripe banana
2 oz pineapple juice
2 oz coconut milk
few ice cubes
*Blend banana, coconut milk, pineapple juice and a couple of ice cubes in blender & set aside.
*Blend Strawberries, both kinds of rum and a couple of ice cubes.
*Put strawberry mixture in cocktail glass.
*On top, slowly add the banana mixure.
*Swirl glass lightly so mixtures mingle but still stay as two seperate drinks in one glass.
If anyone tries any of these, let me know how you like them.

I finally had a chance to try my new blender and I knew it would crush ice as soon as I took it out of the box. It is so much heavier and better quality than my old one, and bonus, it makes great smoothies!
So I have started with the new year's resolution and I already have a border line migrane from sugar withdrawl. I guess that is what happens when you eat half a box of chocolates the day before you begin a diet. My bad. So I've taken some tylenol with codeine and now...well...lets just say I am happier. That's for sure. But my head still hurts.
I was supposed to go home and get on the treadmill tonight but since I feel like crap and only had three hours sleep last night, it would probably be better for me if I go home and go to bed instead. Besides, I wanted to get a check up done first before I start working out really hard and heavy so I don't keel over on the treadmill. Maybe I can get in to see the doctor later this week.
Nothing new and exciting going on lately. I went out to a party for new year's for one hour. I went straight from work and had to be at work at 7 am the next morning, so no drinking for me. By the time I arrived everyone was pretty hammered and it was not fun to be the only sober one. We stayed for the count down and then I took my very drunk (he started drinking at 8 pm) husband home, but only after stopping off for take out first. He sobered really quickly when we got home and had some pizza so I'm guessing that part of his behaviour may have been due to low blood sugar levels rather than the beer. His friends like to push liquor at him, well knowing that he can't handle it like he used to before he was diagnosed with diabetes. But I guess once everyone is drunk, no one really cares. One time I showed up at a party late and he was acting really weird but only had two drinks so I forced him into testing his blood sugar levels and it was at 2. I was rushing around looking for some pop (not diet) to give him and everyone was like, oh don't worry about Paul...here have a drink...Paul's just having fun. Meanwhile, I was ready to call 911. People just can't be as rational when they are drunk as when they are sober, myself included. Parties are never much fun for me anymore because I try to keep my eye on Paul. Sometimes I feel more like a mother than a wife, and I don't like it!
