This is all about a Day in the Life of Daisy. Daisy is our puppy and we love her oodles. We are the Melvin family and here you will find little bits and pieces of our lives - plus hundreds of Daisy photos, of course!
So, I have heard people mentioning liver problems in the family. Does anyone want to share? I have a physical this week and am wondering if I should discuss it with my doctor. That is, if it is something genetic than runs in the family.
Not sure if it is a genetic thing or not. But I have been putting off the Biopsy over and over again. I think it is one of those things I should get done....But at the same time I think I dont really want to hear what they have to say. So until the doctor tells me I am going and thats it, I guess I wont really know. I am going for more blood test in early April and I was already told that if my Enzyme levels are any higher than the last time that I would be going to a new specialist, who would then make the biopsy decision.
The last liver specialist I seen told me I would be dead in 4 years if I didnt drastically lose weight.(I am guessing he didnt quite scare me enough as I actually put on about 15 pounds since then. But good ole Dr. Macsween is retiring, so I get a 2nd opinion :~).
Basically he thinks my liver is worst than a full time alcoholic. I have never been grilled so bad about drinking in my life. and when they found out that a case of beer usually last me 6 months, they figured automatically it was my weight but he couldnt tell for sure without the biopsy.
Mind you I am a rebel to the end I think. Ever since they told me absolutely no alcohol, I started drinking more. a case may only last 3 months now...:~) Actually there has been one or 2 occasions where I have so much I should be hurting real bad the next morning but oddly enough I never get a hangover.....(I may have just cursed myself).
Anyhow once I get the courage to do the biopsy or once I am told it is being booked either way, I will be sure to let everyone know the results.
What made you talk to the doctor to begin with, so that he thought it was a liver problem? Were you tired all the time, or does it hurt? I don't mean to be nosey, but I thought I saw Brenda writing about her liver and I got to thinking that maybe it runs in the family.
To be completely honest it was first noticed by my family doctor during some routine blood tests a few years back. I was still in the Miramichi then and my weight wasnt so much of a problem. I was 50 pounds over my suggested weight at the time but that is nothing to me, I put on close to another 150 since then... There are day's I wonder if I ever shoulda quit smoking....My first real gain in weight is when I gave up drugs in my early 20's, then when I quit cigarettes I exploded..... I will never start smoking Cigarettes again I have over 7 years in and no desire to start..... And as for the drugs I think they'll just give me the munchies and I cant see how that is gonna help...:~).
I guess I may just hae to start eatin SOUP!!!!! and workin out...I am getting excited at the thought of being able to blast my tunes and use my workout equipment.
